The Texan by Nature team is thrilled to present the 2020 Texan by Nature 20. We are deeply grateful to our partners, the Selection Committee, our advisors, our sponsors, and the Texan by Nature 20 honorees themselves. Each of you plays a key role in helping move conservation forward in Texas.
The TxN 20 serves as inspiration and examples for leaders and efforts across Texas and beyond. To select the 2020 TxN 20, the TxN Team evaluated submissions as well as conducted independent research across 2,000+ of Texas’ publicly traded and private companies within 12 industry sectors. All companies were evaluated on a 17-point scoring system to narrow down the list of the top 60 companies in Texas. A scoring committee of top industry leaders was formed to evaluate the top 60 companies and select the final honorees for the TxN 20. The 2020 TxN 20 is featured in the December issue of Texas Monthly.
This year, The TxN 20 is brought to you in partnership with Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC). After the selection committee finalized the 2020 honorees, MPC stepped forward to help TxN realize the vision of broadly sharing the best practices and innovation demonstrated by the TxN 20.
MPC’s support of the TxN 20 was a natural fit, aligning with the company’s commitment to taking actions that create shared value: empowering people to achieve more, contributing to progress in its communities, and conserving resources in its operations. With $18.7 million in community investment, 55,000 volunteer hours, 39,000 tonnes of waste diverted from landfills, and hundreds of millions of gallons in freshwater saved in 2019, MPC stands out as a conservation steward not only for Texas, but for the world.
